The Disclose Getting Involved in Foreign Transactions Act, or the Disclose GIFT Act, is designed to improve transparency and accountability in higher education institutions regarding foreign gifts and contracts. The legislation aims to ensure that faculty and staff disclose significant foreign financial contributions to mitigate potential conflicts of interest and protect national security. To achieve this, the Act mandates that educational institutions establish policies requiring the reporting of foreign gifts valued above a specific threshold, as well as contracts with foreign entities.
