The purpose of this legislation is to ensure that American-Jewish servicemembers who died in World War I and World War II and are buried in U.S. military cemeteries overseas are properly recognized for their heritage. Many of these servicemembers were mistakenly buried under Latin Crosses instead of markers that reflect their Jewish identity.
