The People Over Long Lines Act, or POLL Act, is designed to tackle the problem of long waiting times for voters at polling places during federal elections. Its primary goal is to ensure that no voter has to wait more than 30 minutes to cast their ballot, thereby enhancing access to voting and encouraging higher voter participation. To achieve this, the Act mandates that each state develop and publicly share a plan detailing how they will manage voter wait times. These plans must be submitted to the Election Commission at least 60 days before an election.
