The purpose of this legislation, known as the Transnational Fentanyl Prevention Act, is to require the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to provide Congress with a detailed intelligence assessment regarding two major drug trafficking organizations: the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco Cartel. The goal is to better understand these organizations' operations, particularly in relation to the trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs into the United States.
