The purpose of this resolution is to establish a "Day of Remembrance and Commitment to Maternal Health Equity" in honor of Kira Johnson, who died due to preventable complications after childbirth. This day aims to raise awareness about the urgent need for improvements in maternal health care, particularly for Black women and underserved communities. It also recognizes the work of the organization 4Kira4Moms, which was founded by Kira's husband, Charles Johnson, to advocate for better maternal health outcomes and systemic reforms.
