The Alaska Native Landless Equity Act aims to rectify the exclusion of certain Alaska Native communities from benefits under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. Specifically, it recognizes the communities of Haines, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Tenakee, and Wrangell, allowing them to establish Urban Corporations that will enable local Alaska Natives to manage their resources and access land and benefits previously unavailable to them.
