The Quantum Readiness and Innovation Act of 2025 is designed to bolster the security of information systems in light of the emerging threats posed by quantum computing technology. The legislation's primary goal is to ensure that both federal agencies and private sector organizations upgrade their information systems to implement post-quantum cryptography, a security measure intended to withstand potential attacks from quantum computers. To achieve this, the Act mandates the Director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to develop guidance within 180 days of enactment.
