This legislation aims to reduce Hungary's reliance on Russian energy sources and prevent any obstruction of financial and security assistance to Ukraine, especially in light of the ongoing conflict there and its implications for European security and U.S. national interests. To achieve these goals, the bill establishes sanctions against senior Hungarian officials who hinder aid to Ukraine or facilitate the importation of Russian oil and gas. The President is mandated to impose these sanctions within 30 days of the law's enactment and to review them every 180 days.
