The Outage Refund Protection Act aims to ensure that customers of telephone, cable, satellite, and internet service providers receive automatic refunds for service interruptions. This legislation is designed to protect consumers from outages and enhance accountability among service providers, promoting better service reliability. Under this Act, if a customer's service is unavailable for four hours or more, the provider is required to automatically credit the customer's account with one-thirtieth of the monthly rate for each day the service is out.
