This legislation, known as the Pacific Promotion of Workable Energy Resources Act or the Pacific POWER Act, is designed to promote the development and use of geothermal energy resources in the Pacific region. Its primary goals are to enhance energy security for U.S. allies, reduce dependence on energy imports from adversaries, and support U.S. economic interests in renewable energy technologies. The Act establishes an International Geothermal Program that aims to increase geothermal energy deployment, develop regulatory frameworks, and create financial tools to support geothermal exploration.
